CombatIt’s sort of related to the whole ultimate potential thing and it’s something that people ask me about so I thought I impart a little bit of knowledge on you here. Obviously there’s only so much you can learn from a website, but here are some handy little moves that might help you out of a scrape. Attack mid-sentence. Start talking and then hit them before you finish the sentence. They won’t know what hit them (you did) as your brain naturally wants to wait for the end of the sentence. Dead leg / Coccyx. Two playground favourites that are actually great self defence. Give someone a dead leg, or kick them straight in the coccyx and then run. They won’t be able to chase you. Bend their little finger.< If you’re in a head lock, or some other kind of hold, then (assuming you don’t like it) the easiest way to break free is to grab their little finger and wrench it backwards. Break it if necessary. However strong they are your whole hand should be able to bend one little pinky. Unless you’re just a complete wuss. This saved me from getting mugged once! Twist their head. Want to impress a babe by taking down someone bigger than yourself? Well now you can! Simply walk up to your brute of choice, grab their head with both hands on either side and then twist it to the left hard. They’re going down. If they don’t their neck will break. That makes you a murderer holding a man’s head that you just snapped off – not a good way to impress a babe. Trust me though, they’ll go down. If you want to take someone down from behind, which you shouldn’t want to do but hey I’m not going to judge you, then a similar technique is to grab their head and pull it backwards and down. The problem is that their centre of gravity is so far away from their head they’l quickly lose balance. Dealing with a suspected intruder. Hopefully you’ll never have to do this, but incase you do here you go. It’s not really a self defence move as much as another psychological trick. Basically if you’re looking around your house for an intruder you mustn’t creep around carefully but instead stamp and enter each room loudly and noisily. This will startle anyone hiding in the shadows and put the element of surprise back in your possession and giving you time to act. Step back hands up. The biggest problem is not when someone attacks you, but when they intimidate you and act as though they are going to attack you. You can’t just hit them if you’re a decent guy, you have to wait for them to make the move. You’re jumpy and you’re probably too slow to respond. Well, not a problem for readers of Adamsinicki.com! To counter this situation simply change your position – step back with your raise your hands to about chest height and your palms facing outward. |
